The Pure Water San Diego Program utilizes water purification technology to treat recycled water produced at the North City Water Reclamation Plant (NCWRP). The purpose of the Program is to provide a safe and reliable local water supply through reservoir augmentation; reduce the dependence on imported water; increase the use of recycled water produced at the NCWRP; reduce flows to the Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant (PLWTP), and develop a drought-proof local source of water for San Diego.

Beyaz & Patel provided the structural design for three advanced buildings and facilities that turn wastewater into drinkable water. The filtration buildings include a process and reverse osmosis/microfiltration (MF/RO) feed tanks, bacteria-activated carbon (BAC) system, and ozone generation system.

Other facilities designed by Beyaz & Patel include the lime system, CO2 system, liquid oxygen (LOX) facility, MCC and generation system, product water tank, chemical systems tank farm, and storage, including Sodium Bisulfate, Citric, Antiscalant, Ammonium Hydroxite, Sodium Hypochlorite, and Sulfuric Acid.

Pure Water San Diego uses potable reuse and five advanced levels of filtration. The advanced water facility will keep future water prices in check for consumers and create a local, safe, and reliable supply of water for San Diego.
