ALVARADO WATER FILTRATION TREATMENT PLANT REHABILITATION, PHASES 1 AND 2

Beyaz & Patel provided the structural design, drawings and specifications, and construction support services for a 200 Mgd modification and expansion of the Alvarado Water Filtration Treatment Plant, Phases 1 and 2. The project components consisted of a pump station; influent blending and metering structure; rapid mix and raw water chemical facility; modifications of existing flocculation and sedimentation basins; new flocculation and sedimentation basins; ozonation facilities filters, effluent structure, and backwash tank; raw water and finished water chemical building; residual and waste wash water facilities; main power distribution and standby power building. The Phase 1 expansion included the structural engineering for 85 Mgd 110-foot-long by 30-foot-wide by 14-foot-deep below-grade pump stations and a partially buried electrical control building. 

For Phase 2, Beyaz & Patel was responsible for the design of modifications to the existing flocculation/ sedimentation basins and Venturi vaults, seismic evaluation and upgrades; design of new flocculation/sedimentation facilities and associated galleries, overflow structures, and structural features, including Venturi vaults; design of ozone contactors, galleries, channels and related structural features; design of ozone generator building to be constructed on top of the ozone contactors; and design of Ozone Settled Water (OSW) Pump Station.
